Days 96 & 97 (1st Grade)
Monday & Tuesday were filled with me chatting basically all day with Chrissy and trying to help her pick out bridesmaid & wedding dresses. Wishing I could actually go look at stores with her!!! Hoping to somehow pull off some bridal shows with her!!! Roberto had a good day at school both days. Just a little homework and Roberto tells me that he again aced his spelling test today. Roberto is excited about his upcoming 100 days of school activities on Friday. Some good news from yesterday is that I have all my post-op check-ups scheduled for after my surgery. The next few days are gonna be busy copying stuff from the DVR to disc. Lots of kid shows!!!

Day 95 (1st Grade)
Friday. I love Fridays!!! I woke up and got the kids ready. Roberto brought his dinosaur presentation board to school that we made last year for his 100 days of school project. He also brought one of his favorite dinosaur reference books and 2 of his dinosaur figures (Pachycephalosaurus & a T-Rex). He went to super excited!!! While he was gone I was able to pull off some mommy time...a well needed gift to myself. Then when Roberto got home he told me all about his dinosaur day at school. He said that his teacher didn't have enough time to have all the kids show their dinosaur items.

Day 93 (1st Grade)
So yesterday was Roberto's first day back to school after his 3 day weekend. Upon his return home from school he informed us that this week is Dinosaur Week!!! He was so amped!!! You should have seen his face!!! He told us that on Friday the kids can bring in anything dinosaur related!!! He can wear any dinosaur stuff and bring in any dinosaur stuff too!!! He can't wait to show off his expertise!!! Hopefully his teacher will let him shine in this area because she knows he's well beyond his peers. So today was his spelling pretest and if he got all of the words right he doesn't have to take the regular test on Friday. So far so good and he's aced every prior spelling test. And I would like to announce that I have FINALLY completely cleaned up and organized the playroom!!! It is now completely usable!!! Now I have to finish our bedroom, the living room and the dining room. All three of which are pretty close to being done!!! So excited to almost have an actual presentable and functioning house!!! AND thanks to God I think my body is finally kicking the sickies that I have been battling!!! Well see ya and til tomorrow!!!

Catching up to day 91 (1st Grade)
So as you might assume we have been busy here for awhile. A lot has happen since I posted last. Roberto was chosen as a STAR Student at his school in November. The award involved the principal and two school staff members stopping by for a home visit and giving us some gifts for Roberto including a certificate, a pencil and a drawstring backpack. The next day at school Roberto was honored with a few other students in front of his whole school and received a cool star pin. Roberto has been caught been Caught Being Good 6 times already this year!!! He also has a cool thing at his school called the Power Store which, for those from Manteno, like our Caught Being Good in which you collect little tickets for good behavior and you can save them up to get prizes. This most recent time Roberto had 65 soar tickets saved up!!! And yes my reaction was HOLY COW...AWESOME DUDE!!! He decided to cash in and get a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs book and a package of animal crackers!!! He super loves the Power Store. Today Roberto came home with a little trophy and a laminated award to honor him for being one of the students of the month for December...they call it the Thunderbird Award. The holidays were semi-frazzling like I'm assuming everyone's were, but we made it through in one piece. A highlight for Thanksgiving is that I made my first 2 turkeys this year!!! One whole turkey stuffed with aromatics and then a sectioned turkey with cranberry orange glaze (this one was my total favorite). We provided and cooked almost all of the food for Thanksgiving with my husband's family get together, but for Christmas we opened it up as a potluck for everyone. For Christmas I made marble cupcakes with a holiday buttercream that I came up with and topped it with a cute little gingerbread marshmallow. I so gotta upload some photos. Oh and I forgot to mention the fun gifts that I made Roberto's teacher for Thanksgiving and Christmas!!! I made these cute sugar cookies with turkeys on them and a gorgeous mini cake in a holiday tin. The boys both loved all the family time and they loved their presents. Sam has been working on school stuff with me and he really loves some apps that I downloaded for him. Since I have been off of work I have actually gotten a lot of our house unburied from the clutter that was hanging out from after the move. I have some good news out this time apart from my blog...my ankle has finally been diagnosed and I have surgery scheduled for February 21. Finally something is being done. With this I leave you for the night and look forward to the 100th day of school for the 1st grade year.

Day 59 (1st Grade)
So today I had the kids all to myself coming off of a partial weekend of just me and the kids. Beto was picked up on Saturday by his brother Cuco and they went up to Chicago to spend some brother time together with their brother Joe to watch the fights. So I had the kids for the remainder of Saturday, all of Sunday, and this morning I got the kids up and ready all solo. I totally rocked it this morning...I was able to get the boys completely ready breakfast included and was able to pull off shaving and showering...all this before Roberto had to be taken to school!!! Oh and double bonus...the kids got their baths and laundry is done!!! I feel uber productive!!! Today I have my last therapy appointment and then another assessment of my ankle before anything else is done. Hopefully an MRI will finally be ordered because nothing has really changed in the two weeks since I saw the specialist last. I'm just tired of no answers...I swear online possible diagnosis are a lot more helpful than what the doctors have been!!!
Oops I Did It Again (Days 52-58)(1st Grade)
Sorry...this is probably getting repetitive, but my mom brain has been taking over and I've been cleaning since I'm still not back to work. So my updates have been falling behind. I've had 4 sessions of physical therapy to try to help my ankle; however, my ankle still remains tight and unable to fully move it.

Lots of Days (36-51) (1st Grade)
Okay well those of you who know my well and followed the posts from Roberto's year in Kindergarten should know that this is so not typical for me to have missed all these days of blogging. So to say the least I am totally miffed at myself for not keeping up better. Don't fret though because it was a pretty blah set of days...Highlights though are as follows lots of therapy to try to improve my ankle (which has been deemed by the foot specialist as not fully healed and is needing another 2 weeks of therapy), a wedding at Starved Rock for my cousin (which was really fun), almost a week spent with my sister Chrissy (who was in with her fiancee for a week), and a cousin's 18th birthday party (which I spent chillin with the 2nd youngest daughter looking at funny pics online). We had a fun Halloween with the kids and I will post pics later on my facebook. Also, we had many a fun trips to our 2 favorite parks and some fun time at the mall's kid's area and restaurant play places. So now we are officially in November and we will see what mischief we can stay out of!!!

Day 35 (1st Grade)
So today once again started at 7. I got up and picked out the boys' clothes and made sure they went to the bathroom. Then my loving hubby took over and finished getting the boys ready. Then off to Roberto's school they went while I was allowed some time to sleep in...in hopes that my back would feel better...no such luck. I spent my sleep in time back and forth almost on the verge of sleep only to be detoured by nagging backaches. So eventually at 10 I called it quits. I readied myself and had breakfast and coffee while watching some tv. Then my hubby woke up from his morning nap and we spent some us time watching PAN AM. Now I am currently in the process of trying not to jump through my phone and get physical with the our insurance people and our doctor's office. My morning has turned to afternoon and I am feeling overwhelmed by all the mom stuff that I need to do...I really could use a second me...or less clutter and more storage. So I just now have hopefully fixed the problem and Sam has an appointment tomorrow morning to try and figure out his diarrhea problem...be in prayer that something can be figured out because I have been trying to find answers online and there are a lot of people whose young kids have mysterious diarrhea problems and they have been getting any answers!!!

Days 29 - 34 (1st Grade)
Okay, okay...I know, I know...I am seriously behind which is in all honesty a first for me. So in a quick summation it was a lot of same old, same old. Amidst all the busyness Roberto had a fieldtrip to a place called Curtis Apple Orchard. He was apple to see apple trees, pick a pumpkin, have an apple donut, play on a cool playground and in a gravel box with excavating toys, and play mini golf for the first time. Needless to say he was super excited!!! He also had last Friday off. And starting today (Friday the 7th) Roberto has a four day weekend!!! Totally awesome!!! So we all slept in and are heading back up north to visit our families for the weekend. And as a fun bonus this Saturday is the surprise party for my grandparents 50th Anniversary!!! I can't wait for this weekend's adventures!!!

Day 28 (1st Grade)
So today everyone stayed asleep until the alarm went off at 7!!! Then we all got up and going. I was able to take a shower while Beto got the boys ready. Then the both of us finished getting the boys ready. Then Beto took Roberto to school for a yummy breakfast of cheesy scrambled eggs and an english muffin with butter and jelly. And when Beto came home we quickly had a great breakfast of tortillas con juevos and then we headed to my initial assessment for my physical therapy. The resulting outcome: an stretching plan, an elastic band, and 4 weeks of therapy consisting of 2 days a week. Absolutely fantastic. Maybe someday I will be back to normal...however, it may not be in time for the post office to want to still keep me. Oh well, today's therapy outcome turned out to be like those unpopped kernels I was talking about so we just have to deal with the hand that we are dealt. Til tomorrow everyone...
Day 27 (1st Grade)
Monday...okay so if you are confused it's ok. Roberto's school was not in session on Friday due to parent/teacher conferences...and good thing too because Roberto woke up Friday morning saying that his stomach hurt. So after I sent Beto downstairs to grab a bucket I took Roberto to the bathroom to see if he had to "blast a dookie" and gave him the bucket to hold in case nausea arose and tried to explode from his mouth...yes that means puking. Needless to say out both ends it came. Then after clean up we divided the kids and had Roberto stay in the bedroom eating plain Cheerios and drinking Gatorade. He threw up one more time after eating some and then was good. He regained his normal self and his bowels starting trying to regain some composure. So when Saturday rolled around he was good and we went up to visit with our folks and returned home on Sunday night. This is what brings us to Monday. So as a precautionary measure I had Roberto eat a plain breakfast at home and then had him attend school. When he returned home he said he felt fine all day and that his lunch...which was cheesy scalloped potatoes with ham...was very yummy. And if you know Roberto this was a big shock to me...he really doesn't like potatoes very much. So after we picked him up we went and got some groceries at Walmart and then came home for dinner. While Roberto was doing his homework I looked at his papers from school...come to find out that this week is his week to be student for the week!!! This means that this week he gets to be interviewed by his class and teacher and then on either Wednesday or Friday he can bring in a special show and tell that shows something about him. He is super excited!!! Oh and as a special note...Beto let me sleep in til 11:30 while he took care of the kids!!! He's so freakin' awesome!!!
Day 26 (1st Grade)
Ok so don't freak out...just because I am behind on my daily blogging does not mean you need to call search and rescue...it just means that the popcorn of my life started overflowing out of my bowl and I had to step away from my blog to be a part of the real world. So with that said Roberto had a good day at school on Thursday and he got a 100% on his spelling test. I had a recheck done for my ankle and the doctor said that she was going to have me go to physical therapy for my ankle due to me still having pain. We also had Roberto's parent/teacher conferences which went really well as expected. Plus the boys were able to play at their favorite park and Roberto got a new book from his school's book fair.

Day 25 (1st Grade)
So today started a little before 7 because my little Sam was going potty. I then laid in bed until the alarm went off at 7. At 7 my freakin awesome hubby got up and got our boys up and ready while I was able to catch some more Z's. Then he proceeded to take Roberto to school for breakfast again while I was able to grab a decent shower. Then by the time I was done with the shower Beto was home. Then Beto and I had breakfast...which was yummy. I watched a new show called Unforgettable and then one of my favs Body of Proof. Right now we just finished watching The Green Hornet...it was pretty funny. In just a little while...an hour and 20 minutes...Roberto will be done with school and then we have another recheck for my ankle today.

Day 24
Today started at our normal 7 am, but come to find out that the boys were up before that so hopefully they were behaving. So I had Beto start getting the kids ready while I myself got ready. Then while the kids were eating (Roberto was only having a small amount of Cheerios because he was gonna eat at the school) Beto got ready. Then it was time to go take Roberto to school so Beto took him while me and Sam stayed at home so Sam could finish eating. And yes I know that my sentence was a run on and I don't care...why? you might ask...well we are not in school anymore and when people talk they don't add in punctation...and everyone should know by now that I write like I talk. So now I am just hanging out with Sam and will have breakfast soon. Today we will hopefully get the desk put together and the Dish Network guy is coming to try to fix our satellite problem.
Day 23 (1st Grade)
So Roberto didn't attend school for Day 23. He had a new patient doctors appt that was slated to last 40 minutes so Roberto wouldn't be able to attend school until after 10 am. His school has a stipulation that if a student doesn't arrive until after a certain time or leaves before a certain time it's counted as only a half day of attendance...so Roberto was only gonna be counted for a half day so we just kept him home. We did a few things though. We went to see the Lion King in 3D and ran a few errands.

The Rest of Today
So we finally arrived at my parents house. We stopped by White Castle for my dinner...very yummy and I have been waiting for 2 weeks for some...and Taco Bell/Pizza Hut/Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner for the boys. And a special chocolate shake for my dad. Then to my parents house we went and me and the boys got dropped off and Beto went off to spend time with his brother. So I have been chillin with Dani and my mom. The boys had tons of fun playing with my mom and I had tons of fun relaxing and watching Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Now the boys are going to bed and I am checking out my new laptop. I can't wait for my hubby to get back to my parents house so I can hug and kiss him goodnight!!!
Day 22 (1st Grade)
This morning our kids actually slept...Roberto slept until we woke him up at 7 and Sam slept in til almost 7:30!!! Thanks to us going out some last night and then it being overcast this morning. We ran out and bought a drill so we could better secure the desk together (and so we would have one for later). We then had dinner at the mall's food court hence my facebook check in. Afterwards we quickly ran to Menards and picked up some hardware to use for the desk. Then back home to get the kids ready for bed and then Beto and I watched 2 new shows. After that everyone was finally asleep and everyone slept pretty decent. So this morning the kids got ready pretty fast and then Beto and Roberto left to take Roberto to school. Sam stayed with me and waited for Beto to get back. We have started watching Apocalypto and will be having breakfast soon followed by assembling the desk. Can't wait til it's done because then we can make some headway on actually being able to use our dining room!!! And a big perk is that we are planning on going up to see our parents this weekend and I will be able to pick up my new laptop that we bought from my dad's friend.

Day 21 (1st Grade)
So last night everyone went to bed late because of us buying and picking up a used computer desk for only $30!!! So afterwards we went to McDonald's for dinner and the kids had a great time...and so did I!!! Oh and FYI McDonalds has a Caramel Apple Sundae/Parfait!!! It's like Affy Tapple Paradise!!! So after dinner we headed home and got ready for bed. Then this morning the boys were up before the alarm again so I split them and had some quiet to rest some before the alarm went off. The we all got up and the boys got ready with assistance from Beto...and then I slowly got ready due to my new foot accessory. Yesterday when I went in for my recheck the doctor said that the air cast is why my foot has been feeling funny so she gave me a walking boot to use instead of the ace wrap, air cast and crutches. So now I can walk a little bit easier, but getting used to a bigger and more cumbersome piece of foot attire will take some time. Beto took Roberto to school so he could have breakfast and then on the way home picked up a surprise breakfast for me from Dunkin' Donuts!!! He really is the best husband that I could ever ask for!!! So after we had breakfast I was able to slowly walk...yes walk...up the stairs and give Sam a bath and put him a really cute fleece outfit that my brother-in-law got him last year that he is finally able to fit. Now we are just relaxing and we'll be putting the desk back to in a little while...so excited!!! I pray that everything can get reassembled so that we have an awesome desk to hold everything.

Day 20 (1st Grade)
So this morning started about a half hour or less before the alarm because both boys were awake and using the upstairs bathroom. So I called Sam down to separate the two of them so that Roberto could try to get some more sleep...this unfortunately didn't work...big surprise your probably thinking considering the odds I generally have with this situation...but c'mon now give a mom credit for still trying regardless of the odds!!! So then the alarm went off just as I was starting to fall back to sleep...absolute crap let me assure you!!! So I sent Sam back upstairs to have him change and then for him and Roberto to make their bed. Afterwards they were instructed to wake up Beto so he can pick out clothes for Roberto to wear for school. So finally everyone was up...me and Beto not so willingly...and both boys got breakfast (Roberto only a small breakfast because he wanted to eat breakfast at school again). Then off to school went Roberto with Beto while Sam stayed home with me to finish his cereal and I crawled upstairs to shave...which is a whole lot harder than you'd think when you have a badly sprained ankle. Afterwards I scooted downstairs and Sam followed behind me and had to finish his breakfast downstairs. Then Beto got home and he made a yummy breakfast of smoked sausage, eggs, and toast with orange juice to wash it down. Then me and Beto attempted to watch Stan Helsing...way weird and way too lame...so we just changed our minds and we are now watching a movie that came out in 2010 called The Experiment. It's okay so far...we'll see how it turns out. Right now Beto is picking up Roberto from school...yes today is the early dismissal day...and Sam is playing at home here with me while I drink coffee and relax waiting for Beto to get back to watch the movie.

The Rest of Today
So after this morning me and Beto ended up watching Law Abiding Citizen...totally awesome, but I was awaiting a surprise ending where his plan comes to fruition and the cop dies regardless of Girard Butler dying. Oh well, only a movie...they usually don't let movies end controversial. So then it came time to pick up Roberto so I decided to let Beto stay home and get lunch with Sam so I hobbled to and fro the car and picked up Roberto. Then we got home and the boys watched a movie...then Beto ran out with the kids to pick up dinner from Burger King and KFC/Taco Bell. Now we are finishing our dinner so we can get the kids in bed. Cool thing about today...Roberto had no homework!!! Then some mommy and daddy time...I love that we have been having this almost every night since Beto got laid off...I'm really gonna miss it when he goes back to work. And tomorrow has two points of notice: 1. Roberto has noon dismissal 2. I go in for a recheck for my ankle
We'll see how the day turns out with both...
We'll see how the day turns out with both...
